Misc. Poems

My cat, so quiet, sleeps beside me
on my desk as I write.
An orange little puff ball,
purring so loudly it shakes the desk.
My perfect little pet, come,
let's go into another room.

To me, you are my life,
my soul, my reason for being.
I pledge undying love and a promise
to bring you happiness
All of the endless days that we spend in
each others arms.

You call me beloved while you are sleeping
so sound in our bed.
Yet, when you wake up, the words never
pass through your lips.
How can you be one person while sleeping
and another awake?

How could love be so cold, so callous,
as to leave me alone?
Another one will come, my child,
whispered softly in my ear.
As though the angels were speaking to me
in the passing wind.

My undying love is so true,
It grows stronger with each passing day.
Although old, it feels so brand new.
My lover understands my ways,
and comes when called as if on cue.

I asked dear Eros what he knew,
on how he chose my love that day.
He answered "I had heard you pray
for a lover to come to you,
I knew I had to act that day."

Wise Eros, with his aim so true,
delivered my lover my way.
As fresh as the morning's first dew,
Our hearts entwined in love so new.
Sure that it wouldn't go away.

Those loving times we did ensue,
Until the day we said "I do".
In each others arms we did sway,
we became as one on that day.
Our lives, forever, sealed as glue.

Leaves
uncurl.
Spring has sprung.
Flowers in bloom.
Mother Nature revels in her beauty.

Shining bright,
warming my skin and
my psyche. I have missed you.
The cold winter hid you away from me.
Now you have come back at last.
The wondrous rays
delight me.

Love is eternal and long,
it will never fade away.
Love is lasting and for life,
at least it should be.

Tossing and turning,
waves crash on the stormy sea.
Praying for safe port.
I feel seasick, nauseous, scared.
The wild tide churns my stomach.

A beam of light shines.
We are close to the shoreline.
I feel relief as
My stomach settles itself.
We are going to be safe.

We feel the sea's pull.
We struggle to fight it.
We arrive on shore,
at last, free from undertow.
Warm blankets and tea await.

Another day lived.
The sea will not have us yet.
We fight the ever
constant wrath of King Tritan.
We will sail again someday.

Walking along the garden path,
seeing all the beautiful flowers
who no longer fear nature's wrath.
Walking along the garden path,
watching the birds in the bath
taking a spring shower.
Waling along the garden path,
seeing all the beautiful flowers.

The phone rings in
the middle of the night.
I answer -
a dial tone.

Another ring,
another dial tone.
Questions start to form
in my mind.

Looking for clues,
hoping to be wrong.
Lipstick on your collar;
strange perfume on your coat.

A single blonde hair
betrays you.
I don't dare ask
who it's from.

I can't go back
to the dating pool.
I'm too old and
damaged goods.

So I will stay and
overlook this little "incident".
Love has cheated on me before -
I can learn to grow used to it.
