Sunglasses:how you see the world and visa versa. Please R&R
Sunglasses

A pair of sunglasses was staring at me just the other day,
In a store outside of town.
The rims were oval and curved up to a point,
On either side of the face.
They shouted eccentricity through their bright purple hue,
And muttered alacrity with their bright red polka dots.
So when you put them on you looked ‘glamorous’ and ‘dramatic’
“Like a true diva” says the saleswoman.

Sunglasses come in all shapes and sizes.
They can make you look as polished as Audrey,
With their identical, huge, circular frames.
Classically printed in black or leopard print,
To match your purse from Neiman Marcus.
Others are designed by fashion artists as Armani or Versace,
And behind these extravagant steel borders,
You are a member of the trend.
The top of the line, holding a leather case that imprints
Their widespread name.
You are almost as important as they are.
Almost.

But, in the end, sunglasses won’t change how you see the world;
You will get to keep your views.
On poverty, religion, abortion,
Even your personal fight for freedom.
That will remain your treasure.
Only remember this:

They don’t change how the world sees you.
Another person, just wearing sunglasses on a sun filled day.
Searching for their place in the world,
To make a difference, to be independent.
While wearing Ray Bans to Starbucks.
