I am afraid to sleep ... written in acrostics
Shadows danced over my bed,
Hovering, wanting to mess with my head.
Enter our world, I would hear them say.

Go away! I would tell them, just go away!
Among them all, one stood so strong;
Valerie would wait up all night long.
Enticing my soul, telling me lies,

Medaling in dreams behind closed eyes.
Ending my nights of peaceful sleep,

Terror strikes and I weep.
Here was Theresa to help me through;
Eloquent voice with eyes of blue.

She talks of faith, of God and love.
Take the guidance of the One above.
Restless, I can feel my body sway.
End the insanity and go our way!
Negativity again consumes my dreams;
Guide me home, I can hear the screams.
Teach me how to control the bad.
Hating has made my nights so sad.

Take not who I am, who I want to be.
Only the past is for the demons to see.

Step away and let me make amends;
Life is too short; I have family and friends.
Entering a world of ugliness and dread,
Ending the pain as if I were dead,
Please don’t make me see that Hell.

Angel Theresa, I believe, can you tell?
Near me, I can feel your power soar;
Disintegrating the evilness to its core.

Take away my demons, my nightmares tonight.
Open my heart; I am ready to fight.

Rising above, my body becomes air.
Instantly, I know this life I can bear.
Starve the demons; they will not win.
Kill the monsters from the world I’m in.

Making up for the sins I’ve done in the past;
Yesterday is gone and my faith will last.

Detach any thoughts of losing my way;
Rage isn’t the solution, I hear myself say.
Everlasting guidance whenever I’m in need;
Angel Theresa, you've done a good deed.
May I get stronger as the days go by,
Sleep peacefully forever, no need to cry.

Oh, Lord, thank you for this lesson of love.
For I have found my faith and I will rise above.

Death no longer visits my mind.
Enter my body and purity you’ll find.
My daily prayers will now begin;
Our Father, who art in heaven ... forgive my sins.
Nightmares be gone, now I can sleep.
Silence from the demons, dead in a heap.

Written in response to prompt: She gave me the strength to sleep and to risk my dreams of demons.
