Money Gone

“Man we need some money.”

“I know, but where we gon’ get it. My ma wouldn’t give it to me.”

“Mine neither. So what we gon’ do?”

“I don’t know. Maybe we could...”

“Naw. We tried that remember.”

“Oh, yeah. Huh..”

“Oh, wait. What about Mr. Franklin?”

“What about him?”

“His basement. Remember what he said last week...”

“No!”

“Come on man, we need the money.”

“No!”

“Why not?”

“Because”

“Because why?”

“You know why. My ma don’t like Mr. Franklin. She told me to stay away from him.”

“So what. Mine did too. But we need the money man. Bad.”

“Not that bad. Think of somethin’ else.”

“Man! You think of somethin’ else. Dang!”

“Well?”

“I didn’t think so.”

“Shut up man. I’m thinking.”

“Yeah.”

“I am!”

“Whatever. Let’s go jump off the swings for awhile. Maybe we’ll figure it out.”

“Alright.”

.......
“Hey!”

“What!”

“Look at this, I found a dollar!”

“What!? Where?”

“Right here. I almost stepped on it.”

“Oh man, that’s right on time.”

“I know.”

“So, let’s go get it then.”

“Ok. How many do you think we can get?”

“I don’t know. A lot I think.”

“Yeah, a lot!”

“C’mon let’s go before they close.”

“Man, how lucky are we!”

........

“Hey what’re you kids doing over there?”

“Uh...hey Mrs. Johnson. We ain’t doing nothin’.”

“Yeah, we’re just playin’.”

“Well. Don’t look like playing to me. What you got there?”

“Nothing!”

“Don’t you nothing me boy. Give it to me.”

“Boy, you’re trying my patience. Give. It. To. Me. “

“Humph...”

“Now what do we have here.”

“We didn’t hurt nobody!”

“Quiet! Come with me. I think your mamas would be real interested in knowing that you two hoodlums are over here setting off firecrackers. Where’d you get ‘em from anyway?”

“Ah man, please Mrs. Johnson. You already took ‘em from us. Can’t you just let us go?”

“Yeah, please Mrs. Johnson.”

“Huh....Ok boys. Go on home now, and I won’t tell. But don’t you let me catch you doing this no more, ya here?”

“Yes. Thanks Mrs. Johnson!”
