Those Eyes

I stare blankly into those eyes.
I once knew those eyes so well.
Those eyes gave me hope.
Made me believe that I was worth loving
And it was ok to let go… for once.
Those eyes stared at me all those nights
Making me feel beautiful in the dim light.
Those eyes made me feel safe
As we lay intertwined on your bed.
Those eyes use to dance over my body
As I stood in front of you
Kissing each and every curve without a single touch.
But those eyes I once loved are hollow now.
Dishonest and distorted
Clouded and deceitful
My ears ring in disbelief
My knees grow weak
I clench my fists.
...Those eyes have seen someone else?
Your lips begin to pour of insincere regrets and apologies.
Your mouth is moving
But I don’t hear your excuses.
I look deep into those eyes
Searching for answers
But those eyes are distant.
Those eyes.... are empty.
