Plenty of Purple

Purple is crushed lilac on your shoe,
Purple is an eggplant's hue.

It's the shadows dancing along your wall,
It's the bruise you get, should you fall.

Plump plums plummeting into the pond,
The scent of lavender, of which I'm fond.

Purple is like peaceful twilight,
Purple's a mountain's majestic might.

Juicy grapes and elongated vines,
Even those confusing hazy thoughts of mine.

It can be royalty, or maybe clouds floating by,
Because both reside at the top and up high.

But purple for me, is a good night's sleep,
As I count my purple sheep.
