"MMM, blood..." Xathirawyn cooed as she pierced the skin of her naked human slave with her sharp claws. Generations of selective breeding had made him a very fine specimen indeed, and she would enjoy dining on his juicy flesh. But first, to see what tricks he had learned in bed and, further, what tricks she could teach him. What a shame that the beautiful ones are also often the dumbest, she thought, before bending down and sucking on his open wounds.

If you haven't noticed, this folder is rated GC for a good reason. Many good reasons, actually. Demons, unlike most humans, have absolutely no reservations about anything. And Countess Xathirawyn, youngest member of Lord Diadahm's "Children of Dark Promise" (read: the demi-god anti-Shamrock unit recruited by transforming humans from various points in history), wants to have her fun.

In our world, Xathirawyn time-travelled to find out more of her human heritage and, as a result, had a change of heart and decided to help Shamrock against her 12 "brothers." In this parallel dimension, however, in spite of the feelings in her heart she ultimately chose to side with her Lord and Creator Diadahm and fight with her brothers against Shamrock. It made all the difference in the world. Unlike most of His creations, Lord Diadahm gave the Children of Dark Promise free will. In our world, it ironically worked in our favor.

In the other world, named DarkEarth, the world was divided into 13 tyrannies, each ruled by a Child of Dark Promise. This takes place about 12,000 B.C. (in our world, the war lasts from 15,000 B.C. to 11,000 B.C. and the energy output from its powerful combatants ultimately leads to the Ice Age).

Wracked with guilt, Xathirawyn accepted her own dictatorship in the general vicinity of what would have been her homeland (16th century France) and rules over what, in our world, would be continental Europe. Oh, and though the Children of Dark Promise are time travellers, they can't go back to before the Great Disaster (and can't go back/forward to a time that they're already present in), so they're bound to face SHAMROCK all the time. That--and arrogance--is why they didn't use it in their attacks on Shamrock.

But I'm kind of straying off topic here. DarkEarth is ruled by the Children of Dark Promise until the year (in our timeline) ~1700. At that time, someone (and I won't say who) takes out the Children of Dark Promise and frees humanity from their tyranny. Then the second novel begins.

The second novel takes place in about the same time as Jerico of our timeline found the robot in the ruins of a Chinese monastery. If you don't know what I'm talking about, see the FutureKingdom folder in my portfolio. DarkEarth is in a dark universe, tainted by eons of demon-worship.

As a result, the civilizations humanity builds are twisted versions of our own. The shadow governments that rule the people with iron fists have seers who can look into time portals (mirrors created by the Children of Dark Promise to see the past anywhere in DarkEarth--or Earth anytime they want; Xathirawyn had one in her fortress). Using these time portals, they've created a close approximation of late 20th century Earth that's strangely dotted with 21st century technology.

Excessive drug use, spousal abuse, domestic abuse, gang violence, murder, rape...these are just a few of the reasons why this folder is rated GC.

The humans of DarkEarth, if you ever stacked them against us (humanity), would win every time. They are stronger, more resilient, more agile, somewhat faster, though not any smarter. This, and their cruel natures, are somewhat a result of the generations of selective breeding by the 13 Children of Promise (oh, and as a result, there are 13 subraces of DarkEarth humanity, but this isn't important to the storyline).

Most of them have cruel and twisted souls, but the occasional good person arises. One such good person is Susan (looks identical to Susan from our Earth). The second novel centers around Susan, Reese Witherspoon (lol, not really, but I forget what I named this character and in my mind the character's Reese Witherspoon with long orange curly hair), "Zeke" (he looks just like Connor and with good reason...) and Keanu Reeves (Jerico...Jeremy in DarkEarth). Susan's in a private, Catholic school but the other three central characters are all members of a violent street gang vying for dominance in one of the biggest cities in the world.

There are love stories in this world amidst the violence and chaos, and I hope my readers will be rooting for a happy ending, because the take-home lesson of DarkEarth is that there are no happy endings.

The third and final novel begins where the second one leaves off, with a blast. Giant alien ships come, filled with silver-haired, black-blooded pacifist humans who have mystical abilities and call themselves the Chosen People. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but these are DarkEarth's equivalent of the Jewish people.

Jeremy and Zeke recieve hints that they might be of the chosen people (and that's why they're stronger than most DarkEarth humans). The Chosen People have come to DarkEarth to recruit their distant blood relatives, so as to unite the chosen people, but they won't twist anyone's arms. For the most part they remain in their huge alien spires, but the occasional silver-haired person comes to mix with the DarkEarth people. One of these is Ezekiel, who looks just like Zeke, and by chance comes across Susan.

He tells her that her "true name" is Shoshannah and that she is one of the Chosen People. Oh, he can say this because each of the awakened chosen people (a.k.a. you get silver hair and mystical powers) can ID other chosen people on sight. Urging her to leave Jeremy (he's abusive), Ezekiel has her best interests at heart and is a kind and pure soul. At first Susan resists and disbelieves and tries to avoid him (just like all her friends and family that say Jeremy's no good for her), but slowly she comes to see the goodness in him and even begins to fall for him. She begins seeing him in secret, though they don't do anything sexual.

Jeremy finds out, is very angry, goes on a rampage, etc etc. I don't have it all planned out just yet. But Jeremy's "true name" is Jeremiah, Zeke's "true name" is Zechariah, and it's not just a coincidence that Ezekiel's name, by some stretch of the imagination, could be shortened to "Zeke," a name Zeke came up for himself since his parents didn't even bother naming him. Confusing? Well, hopefully it won't seem so confusing by the time the third DarkEarth novel comes out.

I haven't even thought up an ending yet. Will it be a happy one? This is DarkEarth, come on, what do you think? Still, I have a soft spot for happy endings, and, this being a trilogy, the end of the third novel really would be "the end." So, who knows, hehe.

Also, not being Jewish myself, I will need a *lot* of help in understanding Hebrew ideology, religion, etc before I attempt the third novel. If anyone out there is willing to help, please do. In particular, I need to know about the prophets and the Old Testament.

JEREMIAH m English, Jewish, Biblical
From the Hebrew name Yirmeyahu which meant "YAHWEH has uplifted". This was the name of one of the major prophets of the Old Testament, author of the Book of Jeremiah and (supposedly) the Book of Lamentations. He lived to see the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem in the 6th century BC.

ZECHARIAH m Biblical
From the Hebrew name Zekaryah which meant "YAHWEH remembers". Zechariah was a minor prophet of the Old Testament, author of the Book of Zechariah. This is also the name of the father of John the Baptist in the New Testament, who was temporarily made dumb because of his disbelief.

EZEKIEL m Biblical, English
From the Hebrew name Yechezqel meaning "God strengthens". Ezekiel was a major prophet of the Old Testament, the author of the Book of Ezekiel. He lived in Jerusalem until the Babylonian conquest and captivity of Israel, at which time he was taken to Babylon. The Book of Ezekiel describes his vivid symbolic visions which predict the restoration of the kingdom of Israel.

SUSANNA f English, Italian, Swedish, Finnish, Biblical
From Sousanna, the Greek form of the Hebrew name Shoshannah which was derived from the Hebrew word shushan meaning "lily" (in modern Hebrew this also means "rose"). In the New Testament this is the name of a woman who ministered to Christ. It also occurs in the Old Testament Apocrypha as the name of a woman falsely accused of adultery. The prophet Daniel clears her name by tricking her accusers, who end up being condemned themselves.
