A Poem I Wrote About Being Lonely And Then Being Freed By Love In My Darker Days.

Not Broken

I used to watch it,
through a foggy mist.
A blur of color,
high above the abyss.

I couldn't hear or touch it,
even though I tried.
Not yet did I long for it;
I knew not of why they cried.

Then the darkness overcame me,
and I found myself alone,
and I was tied and shackled;
with no sword to cut their stone.

So I sat there,
uncaring to the world,
and waited endlessly;
oblivious to what they hurled,

at me.

Then, dreaming I saw it again,
the color in the mist;
it came through the shadows,
and my captors growled and hissed.

Then all was silent,
and myself, still shackled,
I dared to look,
towards what he unraveled.

Now I could see,
why poets are crafted,
because beyond the abyss,
is a relentless world, un-drafted.

Then my chains rang,
and I was dragged further below.
But my screams of protest,
were only binded to my soul.

I again sat alone,
uncaring to the world.
Until many years later,
I realized what I heard-

From him.

It was the words that assure one,
that they are not alone,
and as far as he may be,
the chains I melted-

With his soul.
