Dulling the pain.
Life In The Bottom Of My Glass

I started out looking for fun in the sun.
Wound up looking for love on the run.
Tipped up my glass for a toast or a cheer,
Holding tight to this bottle while smiling through tears.

I'm looking at my life in the bottom of my glass.
I've sat here drinking and watched my life pass.
My kids have grown up; my love didn't last.
Trapped in a cycle, reliving the past.

They tried to tell me just what I would gain.
Told me it'd bring me heartache and pain.
But I couldn't listen for I had to go,
Where I'd raise my drink and watch troubles flow.

You can run from life, but you can't hide.
Use what you will to dull pain inside.
Temporary relief never lasts,
You’re just watching your life through the bottom of your glass.
