A summer storm cinquain. 1st place in the 'Your Better Nature' Contest March 2021
In June
the storms begin
as stiffened crinoline
worn beneath a white dress of cloud,
demure.

July
dons her heavy
dampened clothes of clean clouds
hung and draped on gray calico,
dripping.

August
gathers her skirts
with funnel cloud fingers
and runs from cracking lightning whips,
afraid.
