My friend in you

I had a friend in you once a long time ago
And he found a place in my heart with his kindness,

I don’t understand why he’s not inside the man that he became, and that I still care about

I remember five minute rides filled with laughter that I wished would never end. Now he won’t even pick up a phone,

I thought he cared for more than just family and work, but that’s all you have time for these days

I miss my friend in you and it hurts to know he’s gone, and you don’t even care that I exist.
