Reflecting on the past...
Glancing Back

Glancing back upon my life
and all my childhood dreams,
The wonder and the magic
are lost to me it seems.

Fairy tales I clung to so
believed that they were true,
Innocently I held to them,
then from a child I grew.

Soon I turned to drugs and drink
to ease my soul of pain.
The pace of it became too much
and life, from me, drained.

Now I sit and look back upon
all my days gone by.
I wonder where time has gone,
then heave a heavy sigh.

Did I heed the lessons
of all I need to learn?
What about the bridges--
the ones that I have burned?

I find I've yet much to give,
so much to do and see.
I'm not through with life just yet,
to sit and let it be.
