Fred seemed normal enough to everyone, but he has a dark secret.
Fred was regarded by his neighbors as a strange little old man, but harmless. He always greeted the neighborhood kids as they walked by his house. He knew everyone’s name, but no one knew his last name. He was only known as Fred. Everyone in the neighborhood could not remember a time when he did not live in that little old house, but no one had ever stepped foot inside his house. As the years passed, the neighbors would come and go, but Fred stayed right where he always was. He never did anything besides sit out on his front porch and talk to the people who would occasionally walk by his house.

Once in a while, there would be a different car outside his house for a few days and no one would see him outside until the car was gone. The neighbors just figured it was a relative that came to visit and Fred was inside spending all the time he could with them. The lights would be on at his house all night when these cars would show up.

When Fred would talk to his neighbors, he would always tell them about the old days when he traveled around the globe. He had been to Africa, France, England, China, and lots of other places. He would always talk of how much fun he had traveling and seeing new things. When asked about why he does not still travel he would only say that he was “tied down to this place now and could not leave”. He would sigh heavily and say it was probably time for him to go in.

One night, there was a car parked outside Fred’s house and there was a horrible commotion coming from inside the house at about 2:00 AM. The neighbors did not think the noise was normal, so they called the police to investigate. Two policemen knocked on Fred’s door. They had to knock several times before they go any response at all. They saw Fred slightly open the blinds and then close them back. They could hear him moving around in the house. Next thing that was heard was a gunshot. The police busted in the door and found Fred dying in a pool of blood. They could not figure out why he would have done such a thing until they noticed an arm laying in the doorway.

The police found a detailed diary that Fred kept. It told of how he came to love the taste of human flesh and detailed how he kept everything a secret. He had acquired the taste for human flesh when he was traveling in Africa and ate some food that a tribesman had sold him. He said it was the best meat he had ever tasted. He found out from the man that is was human. He was sickened at first, but after a while he could not get the taste out of his mind and the only way to calm it was to eat more.

Fred’s way of getting his meals was going into the city and getting a prostitute or by calling an escort service to send a girl to his house. He would drug her and then begin the horror of eating her alive. He had discovered that the freshest flesh was by far the best tasting. He would keep the person alive as long as he could by only carving small pieces off while they were drugged. When the person finally died, he would store the rest of the carcass in his deep freeze to enjoy later. If they came to his house with a car, he would wait a few days and then call a local car thief to come and take the car and strip it. The thief would give him a little money for making his job easy.

Fred buried all the remains of the people in his basement. The police found the remains of over 30 people buried down there. They speculate that one of Fred’s meals had awoke from the drug induced slumber while he was sleeping and tried to escape. This caused the commotion that caused the neighbors to call the police.
