tell the truth or lie to feel better inside...
She was called up to the stand
Heart in her hand
Tears falling slowly as the years fell like sand
In the hour glass of decision
Flowing into collision
With the rest of the years
Wasting away
Her heart beat fast
Facing blood memories at last
Falling into the past
Of foolish choices
She made

And the loud crashing noises
Of vast sacrifices
Falling through the pond water ices
Of truth and cold pain
Made it empty inside
Letting out lies
Through the gap between her breasts
Heartless
Desensitized

Her breath grew shallow
And she could only see in black and white
But up in that chair she lost light sight
Her tears were merely routine
Smoothing her face
And her past- just a guillotine
Leaving a trace
Of blood memories behind her
Dripping through the wrinkles of her mind
Dripping around her
Drowning the time

And reality hit her like a bullet without Warning-
Coming from before her still asleep
In the early hours of the morning
And grey days shed leaves
From old tired trees
Blowing in the breeze
Rustling together
Her dry hands rustled with them
Trembled in indecision
Focusing her vision
On what fell before her
The empty city mattress street
Or the feather pillows of concrete
Which way to jump?
Either way she's going down
Smiling with a frown

Time to confess who's the villian
The criminal of the crime
The writer of the past
The liar of the rhyme
There's two ways to do it
Let the burden fall on her
Tell it like it is-
As it were
Or let the guilt settle in
Deep down in that pit
Let the blood memories plant there
Let the seed split
Let it sprout a seedling
Let it grow guilt miles high
Let the guilt bloom there
Deep inside

She swears to tell the whole truth
Nothing but the truth
So help her God
With a convincing facade
'Cause she has nowhere to confide
Time to open up
To let it slide
To slip out a little lie
And let the judge decide.
