A romantically melancholy poem |
Half Moon Risin' Half moon risin', on the midnight hour; I stare out a balcony window atop an ivory tower. Fog's rollin' in, blanketing ocean-sea; I long for a fair-eyed companion, beheld in a dream. Ice rain fallin', on into the night; I stare out a tower window, my wishes take flight. Young love growin', within a war torn breast; Crystalline tears once fallen, frozen in a moon shaped crest. I ponder. A Half moon risin', the fog rollin' in; Crystalline tears resemble outside frozen rain. And Young love growin' for a fair-eyed companion. I search a fog covered ocean in the glow of a half moon risin'. But Patience statued sittin' on a midnight hour; Crystal visions of blue-eyes touch within the ivory tower. And Young love growin' for a fair-eyed companion. I ponder On the midnight hour And Half moon risin'. 27 November 1991 Personal comments on format: I suppose lyric format would be better for this poem except that the way it is written was how it 'sounded' in my head as I wrote it. I imagined a medieval chanting poem which quickens towards the end or a non-magical person's interpreted rhythm of an enchantment to possibly draw or attract the imagined someone to the tower. It is to be spoken not sung but possibly accompanied by a musical instrument such as a lyre or harp more to enhance the feeling of longing than to empart any formatted tune or melody. I wished it as haunting, wishful, and a little sad. |
