This piece is the results of reflection on the majesty of God. |
In the darkness of an empty space, at a time when time was undefined, A cosmic force, which had no face, did a single word our world create. What do we call this cosmic force? What name does it possess? What justice can a name provide for that which made our universe? We’ve called it many things before, but were wrong to call Him IT. For He is no IT but a living being, supreme of course, and not a thing. Don’t be disturbed by propriety. Worry not if God’s a Him or She. For God is God, and that’s reality. So for my rhyme I will use He. He is not Buddha, Mohammed, or Reverend Moon, for these were merely men. Jesus is the name I know him by; but also Jehovah, God, and King. It matters not what name we call Him by. It’s enough we know it’s Him. For even the name, that I hold dear, has different shades of character. For Christ is God, the Father and the Son. He is the great I AM. I know him as the loving Shepherd; and the Saviour of my soul. Emmanuel, Suffering Servant, the Anointed One, and God’s own Lamb, All are the same that I’ve come to serve. All are the one I seek to know. His majesty surpasses grandeur. His love enfolds my very soul. His mercy’s free for those who seek, His judgement sure and quick. With all the world for which to care, why do I even start to think, That my demure and tiny life would bring concern to Him? For greater men and stately women have more to offer than my own. Important folks and potentates require His help on lofty things, They call His name; and He responds to whatever name is used. He knows them all, and faithfully, He answers each ones call And as I feel His majesty, my heart is filled with awe. While placing order in this universe, He’s not confused at all. With tender heart and gentle touch He works His complicated plan. And the amazing thing to me you see: He knows MY name. Amen! |
