They read Sam his rights And drive him into the night As the three kids cry for Dad And a wife cries tears so sad This is the last time that Sam sees this home Part 4: Tears Made Of Lot Sitting there in that jail The day that Sam fell Drying up his tears His mind he clears The police record all that he said Sam tells how Alexis is lying They’ve been mislead As he sees red Alexis got home from the party Called the cops and said that she was sorry Sorry that she let this man do things to her He forcefully took what was rightfully hers Saying what they were taught to say “It’s not your fault, and oh how he will pay” Sam bares his soul onto the confession tape There is no one, nowhere that he would ever rape However no matter what Sam did The fluids on Alexis could not be hid She wanted money She wanted him to settle She sold herself out She wanted him to just give in But he never would She just wanted to be happy But she never would Sam fought and he fought Freedom and redemption he sought Alexis won But no cash As Gene cried on her sash Sam is put into shackles He is taking away With the lions he will now lay Judges gavel slams down Sentencing Sam to thirteen years Again into his eyes come tears He kisses his wife He picked his new life He hugs little Jade His account must be paid He hugs little Kate For his sin he must compensate He hugs little Stan No more family, oh man Part 5: His Tomb Dark times Behind these bars No sun No stars To rapist oh what they do Bloody, red, purple and blue A picture of his family pinned on his wall One day a week his family calls Too many miles for them to visit every week The outcome The future is ever so bleak Finally after ten years he gets an early release A new chance on life A new white virgin fleece Part 6: Commence The Snowball Sent back into this cold world One more shot Sam has now got Back to a new town But on his family The same tired frown Starting over on a new street Hickory Hills Lane meet and greet Everyone knows But they don’t speak of the past A few years fly by The pain and tears are almost gone No more do they cry Daddy is back and comforts them all In only a short time This family will fall Part 7: The Dance It’s a rainy night in the middle of spring Jade is out on a date with her new boyfriend Home by ten You know the rules So at 9:27 they pull into the drive Sam and Gene snug in their bed At a quarter to ten Jade is still outside Still in the car Sam is for some reason worried So he gets up to check A look of panic comes to his face He opens the window and jumps to the deck Rushing to the drivers side His rage His anger he cannot hide Jade’s boyfriend is taking advantage of her Sam grabs the handle and opens the door He hears his daughter cry, “Stop, no more” Grabbing the boy clean from the seat His head on the pavement he begins to beat “Not going to happen, not to my girl” Then Sam’s brain begins to swirl He is punching and smashing this kids head in Blood squirting Bones crushing Again and again Jade stand there motionless Scared to death As she hears this boy take his last breath Her Dad now covered in this young mans blood Looking to the window she sees her Mom Sam stands up surprisingly calm Dropping his head he walks into the house The first thing he does is call the cops Then he goes back outside to stand in the rain To his family he is bringing more pain For that brief moment, he was insane Siren and lights come from a far As Sam makes a wish on a falling star His entire family stands by his side As Sam once again takes a back seat ride Part 8: Permit The Collapse Even before the trial Jade kills herself She felt responsible She felt that she was to blame What a crying shame Acquiring a rope and a chair This world This life Just isn’t one bit fair Her life drained out Now she can’t scream or shout Hung in your room with a noose With God she finally calls a truce Sam became a martyr His past transgressions come back to haunt Alexis The party That one mistake Now not just a rapist but a killer too Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide It was all too real, all too true So as his family cries He is sentenced to die Smile and say goodbye Part 9: Scarlet Letters Sam is now waiting in his cell A personal sanctuary of hell Letters are sent to inform him of things His perfect life filled with so many dings The first letter he receives Oh the hell The pain that it brings Stan made a bad choice Stan made a poor decision To hide the pain that he feels for his Dad He started to drink A little at first And then it got much worse Stan was driving home from a bash As he would every Friday night He had drank to much Something wasn’t right Stan unfortunately passed out at the wheel He careened off the road No pain he did feel Thrown from the car Imbedded in a tree Now Sam has one child When there were originally three Sam can’t believe how much this has cost Two of his babies are eternally lost The next letter he receives is from Kate Four days before execution It was almost too late She writes about her coming home The house was quiet but she was not alone Extremely scared But she ventured up stairs Slowly she inched down the hall Hearing the water running she opens the bathroom door Standing there in shock at what she saw Lying in the tub was her Mom Gene The water ran red, if you know what I mean A suicide note found by her bed The million thoughts that ran through her head The mistrust The lust The death of two of her children The man she thought she knew The happy days that he blew The hurt of this place The smile that never returned to her face Couldn’t live without all she did love “I’m sorry Kate, but give your father a hug” To finish the letter Kate tells her Dad she will see him soon Before the execution Under the eclipse of the moon Part 10: Invoking Kevorkian 11:59 as Kate looks through the glass Sam takes a deep lungful of air; his last Killed by lethal injection For you, I and the worlds protection Kate closes her eyes As her father dies On him darkness at last falls As no governor or senator calls She walks outside the prison Into the street From the protesters she can feel the heat Then from the crowd comes a hush To Kate the reporters rush She utters not a word And turns away She hasn’t spoken of her father To this very day The last surviving member of this home Left standing broken and all alone Becoming a media slave She had no choice but to be brave Part 11: Magnificent Angel Time moves on The world turns Funny how time doesn’t stop When we most need it too Now Kate can get another chance Twenty years and her face has not changed Not at a stare Not at a glance Married to a generous man She is his biggest fan Kate is a leading activist for rape And the president of a group Who helps families deal with loss Telling them of the loved ones she lost Touching millions With her loving hand Helping the world to understand She has two kids that she loves so dear Kate protects them Taking away all their fears Making good on her hard life Praying her kids never have such strife Part 12: Take A Rain Check Now is the time for me to say that They lived in harmony For all of eternity That this story in its closing stages must end well Happily ever after is how the stop should come But that’s not how this ends That is not how we finish Forget about Kate About how this was her fate She didn’t help millions With her loving heart We have to return to the start Forget about the execution About Sam getting the lethal injection Don’t think for one more second About Jade with the rope Or Gene laying next to the soap Quit thinking about Stan Smashed into the tree Or Sam in the penitentiary Take everything back Sam’s second chance Alexis and her skirt And how they were all hurt The supposed rape The confession tape Don’t fret and don’t frown Don’t get sad and don’t get down Take your mind to a better place A baseball game A motocross race A gentle rain A cottage in the middle of Maine Don’t concern yourself with things so dark Look to the stars and hear the angels hark Not for one second should you feel sad For this fallen man This conquered Dad Because none of this happened For Sam, not one second you should ever mourn For he was aborted, he was never born |
