Write a story or poem using 12 of your current titles, then enter it here. |
I’ve been here a long time and have entered many contests myself. I’ve even won a few. But I’ve never held one. That is about to change! Get those pens scribbling or those keys pounding, the contest is ready to begin. The topic is love. (You’re probably not surprised, if you’ve read anything in my portfolio.) You may enter stories or poems. Stories must be no longer than 1,200 words. Poems should be less than 40 lines. The story or poem – about love – can be either inspirational or humorous. No darkness, please. And nothing above PG-13. Here’s the catch. You must use your current story and poem titles to create a new story or poem. And there must be at least 12 titles in your new creation. Here are the rules that MUST be followed for a valid entry: 1. Each entry must be a newly created item. (Of course. Most probably don’t have a poem or story sitting in their portfolio made up of titles.) Stories or poems must use at least 12 of your current titles in them. "Untitled" does not count as a title. If you’ve been putting off making a title for some of your stories or poems, now is the time to stop procrastinating. Please highlight your titles by using another color or by making them bold. 2. Entries can be a stories (up to 1,200 words) or poems (up to 40 lines). 3. Entries must be either inspirational or humorous. (No darkness, please.) 4. Only items PG-13 or under will be accepted. 5. Each writer may enter twice, but if two entries are posted, one must be inspirational and one humorous. 6. Each writer must recommend this contest to at least one other writer, and when posting, must indicate which writer they contacted. 7. All entries must be posted in the bitem format {bitem: xxxxxx}. Free members whose portfolios have reached capacity may post their entire story or poem, but all others must use bitem format for postings. 8. Deadline for entering is April 19, 2003 and contest winners will be announced here on April 30, 2003. 9. All rules must be followed. Prizes First place: 25,000 Second place: 15,000 Third place: 10,000 Honorable Mentions (3) 1,000 Gift point donations are welcome. Gift points donated by: Foxglove hippo gailey Lexi Judges: Kenzie bcah Uniquey {you knee key} Harry Annette sherye Let the contest begin! Selecting winners for this contest was difficult. Everyone was so creative! The judges each had their own favorites, making it even harder to award prizes. I had fun reading each story and poem. (And, yes, I did read and rate each one, for those who monitor how contests are held and judged.) It was surprising how some of the strangest titles were woven into the stories and poems. Congratulations to all the entrants. Here are the winners: First place: 25,000 gp’s
Second place: 15,000 gp’s
Third place: 10,000 gp’s
Honorable mentions: 1,000 gp’s each
Thanks again for entering this contest. I do hope you all had as much fun writing as I did reading. Even if you didn’t win, you did a great job. Everyone did. |
