If I was a giant,
I'd tread the glacier heads
Searching hard for the famous twilight -
Where the aurora borealis
Is hung for the poet's eye;
A cotton candy to the stars.
The North Pole
I'd eat like a mint candy cane.
If I was a giant,
I'd swim the ocean like a lake -
Daring Poseidon.
Maybe there really are unicorns
In the ebbing of the waves?
Each enchanted horn
Might puncture my hands,
But then I'd hold their magic.
If I was a giant,
I'd visit all the ancient kingdoms
In just a couple steps -
Machu Picchu; Athens
And maybe the mystics
Will reveal themselves
As I muse at their woven rhymes
At the crumbling Stonehenge.
If I was a giant,
I'd rescue the wide-eyed
Killer whales from the dried bay,
Scooping each in my hand,
Fingers caressing delicate skin;
Kiss with soft love
And set back free
In the fairy-filled ocean.
If I was a giant,
I'd stop a fight with a finger,
And if threatened a nuclear bomb
I'd lay my body over it -
And maybe my blood would
Burn through the mountains...
Would the people of this world
Listen, then?
