Dedicated to my wife and her Mom, a poem on a lost loved one. |
I Remember You I close my eyes and remember, The way you loved me so, Of shared laughs and many soft kisses, Times you held and consoled me as I cried, I can still see and feel your presence, Through the way I live my own life, In the everyday things that I do, Clothes that I wear, captured sayings in my mind, Pennies from heaven, a cup of tea for two. At times when I feel I'm too weak to go on, I find I again hear your words, Passed through the sands of time, Gentle nudges of encouragement, Whispered words of strength in my ear, It is then I remember their meaning, I find the courage to get up when I fall, Wiping my tears away, I sit and remember you. I feared I had lost you forever, I know now that this is not true, For I still sense your love and your wisdom, My guardian angel, With protective wings now wrapped around me, My memories caressing my soul, I draw comfort in this blessing you left me, While knowing that you patiently wait, to show me the way, Through heavens great doors back to you.
