Another edition of the Writers Circle newsletter, edited by me :)
Note from the Editor:

Welcome to the Writers' Circle Newsletter!

Whether you consider yourself a poet or not ALL writers should practice the art of poetry. Let me explain why with:

Top 5 Reasons writers should craft poetry

1) Helps in the creation of the metaphors integral to good writing.

2) Aids in writing concisely.

3) Assists you in thinking creatively.

4) Good mental exercise.

5) Okay, there are only 4 but Top 4 Reasons… didn’t sound as good. *Wink*

Today I'm going to introduce you to some of the Writers' Circle poetry AND they'll let you in on some thoughts on their poem as well.

Psst!

Come on! It's this way!

Comments: This is my favorite because it's about my wife.

Comments: This is probably one of my favorites because it captures a lot that was going on with me at that time, with people in my life and everything. It's more me then any poem I've written in a while.

Comments: I have several poems that I like. But, I do think this one came out rather well.

Comments: This is my favorite because of the raw emotion I put into it. I had the idea to pair it with the nursery rhyme/song and knew it would be powerful IF I could do it justice. I believe I did.

Comments: Inspired by new life in the spring, the fires out west, and the idea that Earth will survive because of, or in spite of, us. "Verbum sap sapienti est" means "a word to the wise is sufficient." It appealed to me not only because of the message, but because "verbum" (word) and "verdant" (green) are so close, phonetically. And because "sap" is the lifeblood of green things, and "est" (is) implies existence. Nature IS, and always will be.

Comments: I wrote it for a contest, but it has a special place in my heart, especially because it's about the Beatles, my favorite group!

Comments: My favorite because I truly believe it has a "pulse".

Comments: "Beneath The Surface." It's a poem that to me, makes one think that about how they feel about hate and that it's not a good idea. To me, it's a more profound poem than some I usually write.

Comments: This is my favorite, of the poems in my port, because memories come and haunt my days and I don't want to lose them, but they are a private moment with a time already gone.

Comments: like this poem because it is very rare for me to write a poem with a happy end. I also like the fact that was written because of a piece of fruit that had gone bad. I like the way the second verse undermines everything said in the
first verse.

Comments: I like this piece because this is one of the few poems that I have actually read over and edited. I was watching a movie about the president's son, and that is where I got my idea from. To me, a lot of people in the society are quietly isolated.

Comments: This is one of my favorite poems because the message in it tells other people that the provision of a good deep long cry is good for the soul. It helps to heal wounds or it expresses deep joy. The tears wash, cleanse and rinse us from the emotions that our hearts may be too full to contain.

Comments: It's my favorite because it was written for susie and makes me feel happy when I read it.

Comments to the editor: From jdenise34

Lately, it seems as if the entire Writing.Com community has embraced me and my writings. It means so much to me because it has given me the courage to write more and attempt a long time dream of mine: to get published. If it is at all
possible, I would like to thank the Writer's Circle, especially Adorable Mrs. KitKat, for helping me out. I have been granted an upgrade and been promoted to a Preferred author all in the course of a week and a half. It is amazing and I just want to thank everyone.

On behalf of the Writers' Circle I'd like to say: You're welcome! :) Writing.Com has a special place in each and every one of our hearts here at the WC and we are just tickled when others feel it as well. The community spirit here is absolutely amazing!
