In the blinking of an eye, there go I... |
The morning papers shoved aside - You didn't see the bit about a suicide; You were busy with your day at work That's one thing you never shirk! Would it have made a difference? You didn't have time to call and say "Hi! How are you? How's your day?" Instead you chose to spread the talk About how I often I chose to balk! Would it have made a difference? You never took the time to understand That sometimes I needed a helping hand; That what I faced, I faced alone - You had enough problems of your own! Would it have made a difference? My story is over, my life is done Not a bother now to anyone - No need to wonder anymore about me, Understand my need to just be free! Would it have made a difference? Do you know how often I felt alone? Or did you critize when you came home? Did you know how much I cared - For the lifetime that we shared? Would it have made a difference? It's over now, the paper thrown away There'll be another one late today; And somewhere in the newest lines Will be a story of suicide or crimes. Would it have made a difference? You never know what a smile can do, It might help someone make it through - A helping hand along the way Could brighten almost any day - It just might have made a difference. |
