Do you really know how important ur grandmother is. Come meet mine....
Chicken and Dumplins
The flour is still cascading to the cabinet top
The floor lightly dusty needing a mop
The pot of chicken and broth boiling
Her work undone she's constantly toiling
A pot of pintos cooking on the stove eye
She takes a moment to hug her grandson HI
The glasses, the apron, the smile on her face
I wish I could go back to this time and place
Early in the morning the coffee brewing
A pot of chicken and dumplins already stewing
The bacon in a pan sizzlling and poppin
The eggs from the chicks in a bowl ploppin.
A breakfast at the table in Grandma's house
No one disturbs the memories not even a mouse
The aroma and smells of the homemade cooking
Had all in the house stomach's looking
The glasses, the dress, and smile on her face
I wish I could go back to this time and place

Alone but together we sat outside.
The goblins and monsters had no where to hide
She spoke, I spoke, Sometimes we were silent.
We each understood and could speak without speech
A hug we shared- a touch for each
She knew her grandson, I knew my grandmaw
When we were together that is all we saw
The glasses, the hug, the smileon her face
I wish I could go back to this time and place

Sick and tired in her bed she lay
That is all I remember of that awful day
She lay there and I knew
No matter how much I loved her there was nothing I could do
With the pain and fear I saw love in her eyes.
She still had time to wave to her grandson HI.
As I lifted my hand to answer I knew this was goodbye.
The glasses, the hugs, the smile on her face.
Dear grandma I wish I could take you out of this place

In my heart she still resides.
The fear, the monsters in my mind do hide.
I miss her more each night and day.
I loved her in so many ways.
Her passing has left my heart aching.
It feels as though it might be breaking.
The hug, the kiss, the smile on her face.
I wish I could go back to her time her place.
