together atlast

Serina awoke with the sun streaming in through the curtains. She could hear the seagulls outside.
Looking around the room her eyes fell on the sleeping figure next to her. She realised who it was. She has flown half way round the world to have this dream come and now it had. As she leaned over to place a kiss on his cheek, he opened his eyes.
“Good morning sweet heart” Glen said with a smile.
He reached up and held her face in his hands. Drawing her face to his, he kissed the lips he vividly remembered from the previous night. Serina broke from the kiss and placed her head on Glen’s chest. She felt his arms securely embrace her.
“I have dreamt of this so much” she said “and now it has come true”
“I have dreamt of the same thing Honey” Glen replied.
She sat up and looked into his face.
“You once said if you could have me forever, you would. Do you still feel the same?”
“Yes” he relied. “If you are willing to start a new life, there is nothing to stop us”
Serina thought of her children and what it would mean to move and start over in a different country.
“A new life would be the best thing for us”
With the awful year that she had had and now that the anniversary of her husband’s accident and come and gone, why shouldn’t she start over? Glen was the romantic she had always wanted. This wasn’t to say that she didn’t lover her husband, but there was a special chemistry between her and Glen that she had not felt with anyone else. There came a knock at the bedroom door. Serina looked at Glen
“Come in” Glen called.
The door opened slowly and a face peered around.
“Mum?” said the young voice.
“Give me a few minutes,” said Serina, “and I will be right out”
“OK” said her daughter.
As the door closed she nestled back into Glen’s strong warm arms and felt his kiss on her forehead.

Serina sat up modestly and reaching down, she picked up the robe that lay on the floor. Standing up she tied the belt. She then walked over to where her bag lay on the floor and selected some clothes. Serina then turned and walked to the bathroom

“I won’t be long” she told Glen.

The warm water felt good and it helped wake her up. After a few minutes she stepped out and was just finishing dressing when a knock came on the bathroom door.

“Are you decent?” came his voice.
“Just” she replied.

She finished buttoning up her shirt and then opened the bathroom door.

Glen smiled at her

“What?” she said
Glen shook his head “You look as lovely as you did last night” he told her.
“What? These old things?” She has chosen just jeans and a shirt. It was nothing special in her eyes.

“I had better go and get breakfast for my kids” Serina said. “you go and have a quick shower.”

Serina went downstairs and found that her children had managed to find the cartoon channel on the tv and were amusing themselves. She smiled as she headed for the kitchen and found bowls, cereal and milk for the kids.

“Breakfast!” she called.

The four children came in and sat down at the kitchen table and started on their breakfast whilst their mother started on the toast for them. The coffee was also brewing so that she and Glen would have something hot to drink.
She had finished making the toast when Glen came in.
“Is your kitchen always this well stocked?” she asked him.
“Mostly” he replied “but when I knew you and the kids were coming definitely I made sure I had a good supply”

The kids finished their breakfast and were allowed to go back to watching tv. Serina and Glen sat down to their breakfast.
“What would you like for dinner tonight?” Glen asked her.
“Dinner? We have hardly finished breakfast”
“I thought that as we are going out, we can call into the market on the way home and pick some things up if there is something special you would like”
“Let me think about it”

They got up from the table and cleared away the breakfast things.
As everyone was dressed and ready, Glen grabbed his keys and Serina her bag and calling the children, got into the car and drove out of the street.

Their day was filled with parks, galleries, stores and generally having fun in a new city. They stopped at the shopping centre on the way home and walking around the market, Serina selected a variety of items that would make a nice and easy dinner for them all.
After getting home, the children relaxed infront of tv once more and watched the cartoon channel, whilst their mother started on dinner.
“Anything I can do?” asked Glen.
“You have done enough today” she said “ you have well and truly spoilt us”

Serina went on to prepare dinner and called every one when it was ready. After dinner she told the kids to help with the dishes.
“Leave them for now” Glen told them. “The sky is still light. Come and sit on the verandah” he said gently pulling Serina by the hand.
Sitting on the verandah in the cool summer evening was simply wonderful and when Glen placed his arms around her and kissed her softly, she knew that this is where she was meant to be.
