This story is about a small animal, a Boginog, which I found while cleaning my fish pond!
I have been meaning to clean out my fish pond for ages, so I put on my old jumper, trousers and wellington boots and set to work.

I picked up my green bucket and garden hose and I set off to the bottom of the garden.

I emptied out the fish pond and removed the fish to a safer place.

I removed the pond plants and put them in my other bucket.

When the pond was empty I bent down to clean the last of the dirt and to my surprise I found a strange little 'thing' sitting in the corner.

I carefully picked it up and took it to the kitchen and put it under the tap.

To my surprise, there in my hand, was a small, strange creature.

It looked up at me and shouted "BIGI, BIGI, BOGNOG!"

I dropped it into the sink and stepped back.

I looked at it and realised it was a similar shape to a toad.

It had big eyes and was covered in coloured spots.

As I stared at it I noticed a small tear running down its face.

I bent closer to it and the little creature covered his head in fear and began to whisper.

"Please don't be afraid, I will not hurt you" I said.

His little face looked up at me and he began to cry. "I want my Mummy"

"Where do you come from?" I asked him,

"I live in Boginog Land with my family" He replied, "Not long ago, I was having a birthday party, everyone was there, all my friends and family.

When suddenly a big black cloud came over our pond and the next thing I knew I was in a strange glass box with a strange big face looking at me.

There were lights and scary noises and then, the water started whizzing around and I found myself in an airtight container with fish!

I guess my mother was right about the big people with things on sticks-- I think they call them nets!

I had been caught, put in a shop, and sold."

As he told me his story I started to wonder.

"Why don't you come and live in my zoo?
It's ever so nice."

So the little Boginog accepted my offer and he came to live at my zoo-- but only until he had found his family.

The next day I took the Boginog to my zoo and he found a place to live.

The day after that he made friends with Monty Monkey, Ed Elephant, Dolly Dolphin and Sidney Seagull.

The Boginog asked Dolly Dolphin if she had seen his family.

"No I haven't" She replied, "But Sidney Seagul might know the way to Boginog land, Why don't you ask him?"

So the little Boginog went and asked him, saying,
"Excuse me, Sidney, would you happen to know the way to Boginog land?"

Sidney replied, "No, I'm not really sure, but I could ask my cousin Polly Parrot. I will come back and tell you what she says."

Two days past and Sidney Seagull hadn't come back.

The little Boginog was starting to give up hope-- but on the third day, he came back.

"I'm sorry I took so long. Polly didn't know, so I asked Samuel Sealion, and, he DID know the way! He said you had to go to sea and head South for three days, East for one day, then South for another day. and you would be there!!

The little Boginog packed his suitcase and we took him to sea.

Sidney agreed to go with him.

We all waved to the Boginog as he set off on his journey--but thats another story....
