What Did You See?

“Did you see that?!”

“What?”

“Don’t tell me you didn’t see that!”

“What is that?”

“I was about to ask you!”

“I didn’t see anything…”

“Really? You really mean you didn’t see anything?!”

“Well, yes and no… what is your ‘that’? I see lots of things, but nothing I would jump up and yell at somebody about. What did you see?”

“I don’t know! That’s why I asked you if you saw it!”

“Well, what did it look like?”

“A pie.”

“It looked like pie? Like you eat, pie?”

“Yeah, like a giant pie in the sky.”

“Pie in the sky? This is a joke isn’t it. Well, we’re too young for that, that’s something old people say.”

“No! What? What does it mean?”

“How would I know, I’m not an old person. I have no idea what it means! Are you telling me you saw a pie in the sky?”

“Maybe old people did see pies in the sky and they just don’t come here anymore. It could be some alien ship spying on us… It certainly looked like a pie…”

“Did you get any sleep last night? Cause you sound like you’re off your rocker.”

“My rocker?”

“Another old people thing… I did not see a pie in the sky. You saw something, but it wasn’t a pie. Really did you get any sleep last night?”

“Shut up! I don’t want to talk about it anymore!” he stomped off.

Anjax waited, but there was no more noise beyond the birds anymore. He would check the video later. That had been a lot of noise! But he was getting orders to move, so no more spying today.

Anjax was planning to write a book about the things they’d discovered here. He’d never been to earth before, it was fascinating!
