The words that haunt (Joint Winner, Cramp!)
36 Lines
177 Words
For "The Writer's CrampOpen in new Window.

Because what you said
said - said - said

Is going around in my head
head - head - head

Your words echo in my mind
mind - mind - mind

Some solace do I find
find - find - find

You said I was the only one
A true aim, was Cupid's
We'd planned the honeymoon
And what we'd name the kids

My wedding outfit was bought
We booked the sacred hall
You said this love was real
In your heart, I stood tall.

Then suddenly the phone call
to my aunt, from your Dad,
"We're breaking it off
Even though it makes us sad."

I'm not quite sure what happened
Your friends told me you cried
But I can't stop the echoes
Though their meaning has died.

As young lovers buy teddy bears
And red roses so fine
I recall I once had that too
I once had a Valentine.

But now it's just empty sound
sound - sound - sound

Lost love cannot be found
found - found - found

Still the memories do whirl
whirl - whirl - whirl

I once was someone's girl
girl - girl - girl
