Writer's Cramp (8 Jan 2025). A sister's letter to her older brother, who recently passed.
My Dear Brother

Today I am choosing to honor the you
who was long kept hidden from me
the one I hear you showed to others
but wouldn’t let me see.

I wish I had known THAT you better
the one who had love in his heart
but instead, I knew the angry you
the one that tore us apart.

I had always hoped for reconciliation
but that door has now shut for good
if I could try again by reversing the clock
please know that I certainly would.

It was your wish that I not be told
of your decline and impending demise
I respect your choice, you had free will
but I wish it had been otherwise.

I would have told you there has always been
love for you tucked in my heart
no matter what the ultimate reason
circumstances kept us apart.

I can only hope you've forgiven me
as I have forgiven you
for, in the end, it’s the only way
both of our souls will renew.

When someone you desperately tried to love
leaves without saying a word
an obvious unspoken tragedy
has most definitely, sadly occurred.

So, my dear brother, I wish only this
that your soul was able to release
the pain and anger it carried inside
so it may finally rest in peace.

Signed,

Your sister ... with love
