It ended up under the tree, with a return receipt
We had a little tiff, Santa and me,
And he left a bag of coal for me.
And I already had plenty for the grill
So I treated it as run of the mill-

Something to return on Boxing Day

As I drove to the Walmart the coal dust puffed
out of the bag, and I sniffed and coughed.
Hefting the bag from the trunk to a cart,
I felt my back twinge and my wrist start to smart.

Just a typical stressful return, so they say.

When I got to the door a breeze blew away
The gift receipt Santa enclosed yesterday
And before I could even approach the cashier
The coal dust was spreading everywhere.

If something can go wrong, it may.
