A poem to my children
A Mother’s Gift
How I wish to give you the world,

A place of gold beneath your feet,

To wrap you in the sun’s warm glow,

And give you every dream complete.
But the world has changed, my dears,

And though I long to set you free,

I’d rather give you all I have
—
The depth of my heart’s love for thee.
I have little to offer in things,

No treasures or riches to give,

But within these arms, you’ll always find
A love that helps you truly live.
For in this heart that beats for you,
There’s more than the world can provide
—
The strength to face what comes your way,

The warmth of love, undenied.
So take my heart, my precious ones,

And let it be your guiding star,

For it will carry you through storms

And show you who you really are.
