"Since when did we have those plants in the garden?" she said.
The plants had been there since we moved in which I suppose was about four years ago. But clearly her eyes had never meandered the backyard. The fence was a rotting pine lattice and cypress trees grew behind them. I was wondering when I would ever replace the fence.
Last night, I awoke and found myself amongst the petunias and the dandelions and the tulips. We never planted tulips and I never saw tulips. I would know. But despite this fact, I saw red and white tulips. There were many of them, so many. I recognized the rotting pine lattice fence and it was in front of me - I had been here many times before, planting different plants for the four years of different appeals she wanted. But I had never seen tulips.
I ventured out again today. Tulips were gone. Only petunias and dandelions. They wave lazily in the breeze.
