"Seems so frightening, time goes by like lightning, before you know, you're struck down" |
Android/80 Ark Blitz Author: Ark Its eyes stare into my soul, watching me, while it stays hidden. Walking through the halls of this empty decrepit house, eyes permeating through the cracks in the walls. I know it’s a nightmare, but I can’t wake up. I feel the blood inside me fighting itself, wrestling through my veins. My vision is clear, yet feels fuzzy. The brain in my head seems to be a different entity, rebelling against my actions. It writhes and contorts, resenting every step I take further down the hall. Thunder barely lights the way forward through windows that are few and far between. I wish I could focus on the rain, but that’s impossible. I’m on edge, my focus snaps from wall to wall, ceiling to ceiling, trying to never focus on one thing long enough to understand it. The walls scream out, they morph into people I was forced to abandon. But the eyes, they never stopped staring. They haunt me, there’s an aura that surrounds them. A sharp pain bursts through my stomach, coughing makes blood start to drip from my mouth, steadily dropping down onto the elegant carpet beneath my feet. A voice reaches out, the source seems to be from every direction, calling out to me. “Endure, prove to them that you are not weak.” Something materializes in front of me, it’s me, though it is twisted. My pupils are dilated, my body is covered in scars and cuts. My smile is fake, looking as if happiness was injected into me with a syringe. But my neck is catching the attention of my eyes. A gash almost two inches deep loops around it, causing the bottom half of my neck to be caked in blood. In my right hand, a knife, one which I brandish towards myself. “I mean, it won’t get better until it gets worse…” Drops of blood begin to roll down my face as if they were tears, my eyes stare into mine, all I can see is desperation in them. The knife plunges into my stomach again, the sharp pain I felt a moment ago returns. “But…not to worry! They will help… they will heal us… eventually…” I glide the knife across my chest, cutting it open, blood pours onto the floor. I cry more and more blood from my eyes. The end of the hall bursts alight. My pace increases, despite the pain. “Yes, run for them, they will save us!”, I hear myself cry. Breaking into the light and the room, they sit upon a throne. A man and a woman, the man holds a chain which extends out to me. The collar of it is made from barbed wire, which fits the gash on my neck. When the man pulls it, I rush past me. I watch as I sit beside him, like a dog. “Just give in to them, they will…” I continue to talk but I don’t listen. I look past the throne, and there is a cage. The cage holds another me, but they have no scars, no cuts, they look whole, unlike the other me. I start to walk, then run, then sprint towards the cage. Reaching it, I speak, “Oh my god… A-Are you here to free me, please free me! They will do nothing but hurt you, please fight back! For me, for us!” The chain of the man wraps around my neck, slowly choking me, while the other me approaches. “You won’t fight back, you’ll hurt the people you love!” They cry more blood tears as I move in front of me. My words are shaky, and they aren’t coming from me, it’s from the man and the woman. I bring the knife to my chest, but I then drop it, as I fall to the floor at my feet and in tears. The chain tightens, while the man pulls the me in tears to him. But I slip my hands between my neck and the chain. Now with it no longer holding me, I grab the knife. I feel my own blood drip down from the blade onto my hand. The woman lets out an ear piercing shriek, while the man slowly gets up from the chair, holding a knife of his own. While laying on the ground, I start to laugh, cackling while continuing to cry. I scream, “Y-You won’t win, p-please just give up! Let them fix us!” Looking over at myself in the cage, my desperation flowing through my blood. The knife still dripping with my own blood, I start to charge toward the man. Stab after stab into his torso, only ceasing once they fall to the ground. I watch as his blood soaks into the carpet like mine, pouring from his corpse. Walking back to the cage, I open it using my knife, before dropping it. Opening the door, everything melts away, everyone disappears except me. I feel the loss of blood from the stabs inflicted upon me, the adrenaline has stopped flowing. I fall to my knees weakly. Rain pours down through the empty field which I now find myself in, the puddles of it slowly mix with my blood. Over the horizon I hear laughter, I am laughing with someone else. A wave of calm washes over me as my vision starts to fade. I won’t be alone in the end, and that’s what matters. And even in death, I still won. |
