An encounter. Was it a dream or reality?
It was such a gorgeous fall day I thought, Why not take a drive down to the lake and look at all the fall colors.

Walking along the path, dry leaves crunching under my feet, slight breeze kissing my cheek, I heard a honking noise. Quite sure that I knew what that could be I quietly continued toward the lake hoping not to scare it away. When I had almost reached the lake, I hunkered down at the tree line.

Yes, there they were, two swans, magnificent creatures, in the open water paddling around together. At times, they submerged their long necks into the lake fetching something to eat. It was magical watching them. I was like a voyeur, feeling I was not supposed to be there. This is not a common sight, so I felt quite special to have happened upon it.

It seems I had been there a long time, and yet the time seemed to have flown by. Dusk was quickly approaching and suddenly the swans emitted a loud trumpet and off they flew. Apparently, something had startled them from their leisurely swim, but what?

Cramped from my long sit, I rose from my hiding place and stretched my legs; I decided it was time to head home. From the corner of my eye, it seemed as though I saw a flash but wasn't sure, so gazed at the horizon thinking it might have been lightening. Maybe we were getting a storm, I hadn't listened to the weather report that day. More reason get back to the car. One didn't want to be caught in the woods in a lightning storm.

Next, I saw what appeared to be red circles reflected in the water so I rubbed my eyes thinking, I'm seeing things, I must be tired. I scratched my head wondering what it the world would have caused that. I knew people sometimes saw lights when a migraine was coming. I hoped that wasn't the case. As soon as the thought crossed my mind, I heard a 'whirring' noise above me. My first inclination was to run but it was as if I were transfixed in place.

Slowly, almost gliding, it skimmed along the water's surface creating little waves in the lake. Then I watched as landing gear started to come out the side of the ship. Quickly I hid behind a tree. Three globs appeared. You couldn't exactly call them human forms as they were translucent and glowing. They had very large spherical shaped heads, arms with a couple of pointy fingers hanging to the ground, and short legs with almost hooflike feet.

I covered my mouth to stifle a cough, not wanting to be discovered. No, not at all!

The globs disappeared into the woods opposite me. I should have left but stayed glued to my spot, curious what would happen. As I sat there, a squirrel rustled next to me, and I almost let out a shout in fear. So much rustling in the woods at this time of the night. A long time passed, and still I stayed, wondering why I didn't get out of there. As they say, curiosity killed the cat. I hope that didn't happen to me. I was getting cold, not bringing a jacket or sweater along with me, so I rubbed my arms to keep them warm.

Finally, I heard a noise, and I was aghast at what I saw. The three globs were floating first, followed by a deer, racoon, and fox. The animals were also gliding above ground. Now I froze as they stopped and pointed toward the tree I was hiding behind. My stomach was in knots, I turned to run, but an invisible wall stopped me in my tracks. I also was floating in the air towards the ship and followed the globs to the ramp and inside. I don't remember feeling scared or afraid. In fact, a peaceful feeling came over me and I believe I lost consciousness.

When I awoke in my car it was morning. I couldn't figure out what I was doing there or why I hadn't driven home but I did remember what had occurred; or what I thought had happened. Every day since I wonder if it was real or a dream, I don't know. If I tell anyone about it they will think I have lost my mind.

I do have three little red circles on my wrist that were not there before and that gives me some reassurance that I really did encounter an alien ship. I will always wonder what the purpose of that occurrence could have been, but I'd like to believe that they were just as curious about us as we are about them.
