A poem of reflection
Humanity lays bare, sacrificed,
On altars built of silver and stone,
Where dreams are priced, and kindness sliced,
In shadows cast by wealth alone.

To halt the hunger, to cease the crave,
Would be to halt the pulse we know,
As if to stop, to live, be brave,
Were sins that truth could overthrow.

Yet somewhere deep, we lost the way,
As need turned greed and hearts grew cold,
And all the warmth we gave away,
Traded for treasures bought and sold.

The saddest thing: it never had
To end in greed’s eternal fire,
But to pause and feel was labeled mad—
To consume became our only desire.

So here we stand, lost and tired,
A world that’s burning, bought, and sold,
Not for lack of love inspired,
But for fear of losing gold.
