A reversible poem based on the theme Distance.
I reach for you, but you keep slipping away.
The silence between us grows deeper with every step.
I want to pull you closer, but your walls rise higher.
You say everything is fine,
but the distance speaks louder than words.
I waited by the door. You never came.
Your absence sits heavy where you used to be.
Every message unanswered, every knock ignored.
You say nothing,
as if my voice can no longer reach you.
What happened to us?
I gave you my heart in open hands,
but you left me holding air.
I tried to meet you halfway,
but each step brought me closer to a wall.
Were you afraid?
Did I become too much?
Tell me—
Why do you keep running from me
when I’m still here, waiting?
I wanted to understand,
to find you across the distance,
but the more I reached, the further you drifted.
I knocked. You closed the door.
And so I stopped.
I stopped waiting.
I stopped reaching.
The space between us settled like dust.
And now, I am alone.
---------
I am alone.
And now, the space between us settled like dust.
I stopped reaching.
I stopped waiting.
And so I stopped.
You closed the door.
I knocked. The further you drifted,
the more I reached,
to find you across the distance.
I wanted to understand.
When I’m still here, waiting,
why do you keep running from me?
Tell me—
Did I become too much?
Were you afraid?
Each step brought me closer to a wall,
but you left me holding air.
I gave you my heart in open hands.
What happened to us?
As if my voice can no longer reach you,
you say nothing.
Every message unanswered, every knock ignored.
Your absence sits heavy where you used to be.
I waited by the door. You never came.
The distance speaks louder than words,
but everything is fine, you say.
Your walls rise higher, but I want to pull you closer.
The silence between us grows deeper with every step.
I reach for you, but you keep slipping away.
