Blessed to have this memory
When my Dad turned seventy-five
The family home buzzed like a hive
Fifty people on the invitee list
A party that just couldn't be missed.

We had a party all week long
Playing games, singing many a song
And, yes, for tradition's sake
Dad blew out candles and cut a cake!

With several feasts, back to back
Dad ate each favourite childhood snack
Giggles, gifts, gratitude galore
Really, we couldn't ask for more.

Heading home after the celebration
Dad and I felt quiet elation
"The best part," he said simply
"is the love of the family."
