ABCeDarius Poem for Cramp
Athletes vying for glory
Be they faster, stronger, higher
Contingents telling the story
Defending their team's honour.
Every race, every bout, every game
Featuring men and women of steel
Going for gold, heading for fame
Hoping for their anthem to peal.
In every heart there is a winner
Just being there is enough
Kith and kin, though competitor
Long years of practice, and tough.
Medals that shine forever
Never losing their glitter
Olympic Rings, joined together
Podium finishes, hearts a-flutter
Queen or King, each one crowned
Royalty of their sport
Strength untold they have found
Towering pillars of a fort.
Unique each tale, yet universal
Victory or defeat is in the mind
When participating is the pinnacle
X-factor, within each does find.
Young and old do celebrate
Zenith of sports - and great!
