Jared Fainted

“We have to talk”

Jared slowly put down his phone. That was not the text he had been hoping for. He had only been dating Gina for a few months, but he was head over heels over her. She fit perfectly.

He had dated many women over the years, fun, lively, great company. Gina was different right from the get go. Their first date, a blind date set up by friends, blew him away. The moment he met her in person there was something more. He felt as if he belonged with her.

Every date they had was heaven. Even going to the flower museum, something Jared would have laughed at before Gina came along. It had been a day of total fun and excitement. Real fun, not ‘being polite’ fun. He actually wanted to go back.

But this call, this message “We have to talk,” froze him. Did he do something wrong? He really felt they were meant to be together, forever. Was he wrong? Did Gina feel differently? As he sat there, he started feeling as if he couldn’t breathe. Was she breaking up with him? Were all these feelings just one sided? He could feel his heart pounding, was it about to be broken?

His phone rang. It was her… he was afraid to answer. She wouldn’t do that over the phone, would she? It rang again, he had to answer.

“Gina!” he said, in as relaxed of a voice as he could manage, “I got your text.”

She laughed. His heart hurt.

Then she added, “There was someone at the door, I didn’t finish the sentence, duh! My text was supposed to say ‘We have to talk about that stupid movie we saw last night!’ Let’s never watch a Rinehard movie again!” she laughed.

Jared fainted.
