Alone we all stand against the world around us, the world we create.

Alone The Tree

Silent this grove,
Where shadows dance,
And echoes rove.

Standing, a tree
Solitary and grand.
Emptiness is all around,
Nothing to be found,
Forlorn such a land.

Its branches stretch wide,
In silence, it pleads,
Vast the expanse indeed.

Its leaves whisper secrets,
No one hears or cares.
Truths made unreal,
Facts wasting away,
Ultimate such decay.

Its roots delve deep,
Meaning aloof,
Trying to find worth
Where there is none.

Solitary its embrace,
Quiet it will always keep.
Time is a prison within itself,
And forever it has been sentenced.

Often it will bend to the will
Of others not-so-close.
Pleading for acknowledgement
When there will be none.

In the frivolous sky,
The moon hangs high,
Casting a silvery sheen.
Stars gazing down,
Angry, the light,
Witnesses to a silent fight.

Nothing will win,
Because there is even less to lose.
Seasons pass, as time does harass,
Burning light as darkness fights
To keep such a plight real.

Standing firm and proud,
Voiceless, the vow to fight on.
In this forest, empty, vast,
The lone tree endures the past.

A testament to nature’s might,
In solitude, it will survive
Alone the tree…
