A poem for my wife
When Adam bit the apple, he did it for love,
He trusted Eve, his heart rising above.
No matter God's word, no matter heaven's rules,
For what's heaven to love's timeless jewels?

Eve trusted a snake, and Adam trusted her,
In that moment, divine orders were a blur.
The first sins of humanity were borne of trust,
A tale as old as time, from ashes to dust.

I trust you, like Adam did Eve,
In this world where hearts still believe.
Maybe it’s a sin, like the first of our kind,
But what's divine judgment to love, unconfined?

Adam trusted Eve's grace,
And now I trust you, in this love-filled space.
Maybe we offend God, and perhaps it’s true,
But what's heaven to me, without sitting by you?

Perhaps we're sinners in the eyes of the divine,
But I'd trade heaven for your love, pure and fine.
For what has heaven got that I can't find,
Sitting next to you, our hearts intertwined?
