America’s Great Depression

The Great Depression hit America hard
In the 1930s people were far from being on guard.
Salaries dropped and jobs were few
People lost their homes and food lines grew.

Middle America became a large dust bowl
One storm blew for days and disease took its toll.
Our dear grandparents lived a life we could not bear today
With large families to feed, it was either move or stay.

Some people had knowledge for gardening and home making skills
If a woman could sew, making clothes would save each dollar bill
Grandparents remember well that with family comes much work
Their children and others have it good now because without
tedhnologly they would go bezerk.
