Being in the Right Place at the Right Time
1 Samuel 17:17-18 (NIV)

“Now Jesse said to his son David, “Take this ephah of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp. Take along these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit. See how your brothers are and bring back some assurance from them.”

A few years ago, there was a TV show called “God Friended Me”. Its storyline was God friending a young man on his Facebook page and giving him “God Assignments”. Each week saw the main character and his friends receiving an assignment from God to help bring people closer to Him. I thought about that show as I read the account of Jesse asking David to bring food to his brothers on the battlefield. It was no coincidence that he was asked to go there. The stage had to be set for David to fight and defeat Goliath. David was in the right place at the right time.

I thought about the times that either I or other people were in the right place at the right time during my faith journey. I thought about a priest who walked into a church I was sitting in because I had no place to go. The surprised look on his face told me he didn’t expect to see a young mother and her baby “camping out” there. And I thought about the time I was in my cardiologist’s office and casually asked if I could have a carotid artery test because it had been too long since I had one and it just seemed like I should probably ask since I was there. The test showed a 95 % blockage in the right artery. I had corrective surgery shortly after.

God is always with us. He knows what we’re going through, and I believe He “sets the stage” sometimes in our lives when we need His help. He never leaves us and always points us in the right direction. If we’re listening, we will always hear him.

God’s Promise

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Father, thank you for Your protection and Your love. Help me to anticipate Your presence at all times. In the name of Jesus, I praise and worship You.
