Summer Song

The canopy of leaves
Great oaks and birch trees
Fills the forest floor with dimmed green light
The squirrels dance from tree to tree
Bird songs from different sources above
The scolding of chipmunks,
The sound of wind in the leafy heights.
A white tale buck with his proud antlers
Comes slowly adding his faint rustle.
Just the song of the forest
The song of sunlight, wind and rain,
The sounds of abundant life everywhere
Summer and its medley of songs fill the wood.
