Earth

The Earth turns without judgment
while its forests wildly burn
Wars rage on and on
but will we ever learn?

Still the Earth keeps going
while its rivers are spoiled
While animals lose their nests
and temperatures boil

The Earth carries the hopes and woes
of all its living things
of all the creatures
with wings who sing
with fists that fight
with mouths that eat
with arms that carry
with hearts that beat

We must do so much better
there is such terrible ruin
The Earth needs our help
and it needs it soon.
