Lost

You say you're lost
But what about me?
I'm lost
No, consumed by the darkness
The grief
The loneliness
I'm afraid
The light of hope
Shines so distant
Out of reach
Always beyond my grasp
I fall
Further and further into despair
No words to pull me out
Not hearing those who call for me
I'm deafened by this screaming in my mind
Telling me I'm horrible
I'm unlovable
I'm worthless
I don't deserve anything
Anyone
My limbs ache from digging
Digging a way out
Digging towards that light
I'm tired
Sleep is the only comfort now
But it is only brief
A few hours to escape this maze
To dream of a better place
Only to wake in this same nightmare
Time and time again
