April Showers

April showers bring May flowers,
or so the saying goes.
It doesn’t always work that way,
as everybody knows.

Oh, I’ve seen flowers bloom in March,
although I don’t know why.
I wouldn’t make things up like that.
Believe me, it’s no lie.

Some flowers like to bloom in May
while others come out late.
The weather takes control of things;
you can’t go by a date.

And then, of course, there are the ones
that flower in the Fall.
You’d like to see them all year long
but you can’t have it all.

And as for April and for May,
it’s all your point of view.
It only works for those of us
who live up where we do.

There is that long equator line
that winds around our sphere.
Beneath that line, things are reversed.
At least that's what I hear.

For those who live below that line,
the world is upside down.
October is the time they’ll see
Earth wear her flowered gown.
