Dystopia

It started off slowly. We didn’t know our rights were being taken away until they were. Prime Minister Astor was elected and he was- is -a powerful, persuasive man. He had big ideas and a way with words that could change the mindset of an entire country. Small changes were made at first, always small changes. Small implements, seemingly harmless laws that violated no rights, didn’t directly affect anybody.

Throughout all of it he used his gift of speech, he became the favorite, he had the country in rapt attention.
He had plans of course, big plans that went far in the future. He had an agenda of his own. What he did in the beginning was something that smart leaders, leaders who want their country taken in a different direction know to do. He indoctrinated the kids.

That’s always what they do. Always. Kids are our future. If you change the mindset and influence the opinions of mouldable kids, you change the future. It is much easier for children to be taught, then adults retaught. Adults have fixed mindsets. They resolutely and stubbornly believe what they believe, thinking that their way of thinking is the only way of thinking and it takes so much more effort to change the thought process of a grown person than an impressionable child.

So they started young. They fed a steady stream of information into the minds of the school kids who literally go to school to learn every day. They were slowly taught that free choice should be eliminated. Of course, no one said that outright. If you tell someone that you are going to take away their freedoms, their choice, their rights, they will object. They will oppose. They will never ever submit. But if you slowly, carefully, teach them that they don’t want to have the burden of free choice, they will mold into who you want them to be. It’s the same thing as if you put a frog into a pot of boiling water, it will jump out. But if you put the frog into nice room temperature water and slowly, slowly turn up the heat, giving it time to adapt, it won’t even realize it’s being boiled alive until it’s too late.

The young generation was taught what the government wanted them to be taught. Of course, the adults were being fed information too. Through the media. Through the news. The big news companies work for the government. And most people, when given enough money, will do just about anything. The big people in charge told them what to report. They put a filter on what they reported. You are told you are getting the truth, you believe you can watch whatever you want to watch.

You see, everyone is always hung up on their beliefs and opinions. Their opinions are the right opinions. They have the freedom to have their own opinions. And that’s what you’re being told. That’s what the country was constantly told by the big high ups and the government leaders.

Meanwhile, they were indoctrinating the people to all have the same opinion, while putting on the front that everyone has the freedom to choose. You have freedom of speech, as long as you say this. You can believe what you want, as long as you believe this. The country was led, unknowingly, blissfully unaware, to their own destruction. They sat by and watched, happily watched and did nothing because they didn’t even know it was happening, as their freedoms were taken from them and dragged to the grave.

Of course not everyone was complacent. Not everyone sat back and let themselves be derailed into demise. Some people were wary. Some could see what was being done to those around them. There were protests. People called for something, anything to be done about this man who was trying to lead a democracy into a dictatorship.

But they were shut up. Silenced. Nothing public, nothing obvious, they were discreetly and carefully silenced, never heard from again.
And of course the public called for it. They wanted these people to be eradicated from society because the news had portrayed their protesting as violent. Dangerous. The government told the people that these protestors were an endangerment to the peace. The government told the people what it wanted the people to hear.

And then came the Micro-Medics MV Sleeping Chips. Tiny devices planted inside your brain that produce melatonin at whatever time you want, and drop you off to sleep instantly. At first people were wary of them, concerned of the health risks involved in using these microchips. But then, celebrities started using them. Doctors raved about them, saying they caused no damage to your health whatsoever. Little did the people know that the government was in control of that, too. These people were paid, paid to rave, paid to approve. Because most people will do anything for money.

The selling rate of Sleeping Chips went through the roof. Everyone wanted them.

And of course this all played wonderfully into the schemes of the power hungry people who had the country wrapped around their fingers. Over time, much time, years and years, laws were passed and the country went down the route where it was required by law to have a Sleeping Chip, except for those who had special permission for exemption because they had to work night shifts. What was the reason? Well the people were told and taught that this would reduce crime rates astronomically. If it was law for every person to be in bed and dropped off into sleep at exactly 10:30 PM, the amount of nighttime criminal activity would be reduced to almost none! What was the truth? Well the truth was that now there was a curfew. Now, people could be watched at night and monitored. The people willingly put their sleep in the hands of the government. There were several buildings stationed throughout the country. Every microchip was entered into the systems that all ran back to these buildings. The operators inside these clinics simply had to flip the switch and the population would be asleep.

Again, there were those who saw through the ruse. There were people who opposed, people who stood up for their beliefs, their own beliefs. Their original, uninfluenced opinions.

They were silenced.

Some believed they were killed.

Some said they were put in isolated prisons.

There were rumors that they were brainwashed, their minds erased, turning them into robot-like slaves of people, forced to do secret jobs out of the public eye.

And then that layer of fear came in. People were no longer only doing things because they had been indoctrinated into believing it to be the truth, they did things because they were afraid of the consequences.
