Deciphering handwriting
"Happy Birthday, Robert! And you can have your choice ..."

"My choice of?"

"Brown, Sloth, Asian ..."

"What?"

"... Spectacled, Giant, Polar ..."

"What are you talking about?"

"The bears. You can have your choice of bear as a gift.'

"But - but ..."

"Now see here, Mr. Robert, we only supply the best quality bears. Do not hesitate. Pick one, it's all paid for."

"Paid for?"

I'd been silent all this while. I'd picked Robert up and brought him to where the note said I should, but I'd forgotten the note was written by Jim, who doesn't have the best handwriting after all.

I don't think he meant 'Bear' shop.

I think he wanted me to take Robert to the 'Beer' shop and give him any beer he wanted, paid for by Jim ...
