Coco Chanel introduces "Chanel No. 5"
Read on readers, and you will see
The couple's de scent to misery.
They met in nineteen nineteen
The cutest pair that had ever been.

They met, they glanced,
they sighed, the danced
They walked, they talked
she mocked, he stalked

And finally, after the smooth and rough
They decided they couldn't get enough
Of each other's conversation
So he proposed, as is the tradition

She said yes, her heart was won
The year was nineteen twenty one.
And then, he saw the headline
'The perfect gift for this girl of mine.'

Coco Chanel introduces "Chanel No. 5"
Straight to the salon he did drive
He put down a lot of money
To get this present for his honey.

"A gift? But there's no occasion,"
"Just to celebrate my devotion!"
She took it and undid the ribbon
Opened the box and then peep in

"You spent that much money?
Are you crazy? It's not funny!
We could've bought something of use
You could have let me choose!"

"But dear, I thought it was perfect
I never dreamed that you'd reject ..."
She yelled and shrieked across the room
She was allergic to perfume!

But what made her feel worse
Was his use of his own purse
He needed her consent
Before he could spend a cent.

The scent led to their descent
De-scenting what was once decent
They parted, leaving not a whiff
Of the dear, rejected gift!
