The Golden Rule

It doesn’t matter who they are
or what they say or do.
The only thing you can control
at any time is you.

Don’t listen to their foolish words,
not if they aren’t true.
Just let those lies fall to the ground
then sweep them out of view.

You have a set of principles
that you learned as you grew.
You have a sense of honesty,
respect and fairness, too.

While others practice greed and hate,
those are traits you eschew.
Instead there is the golden rule,
a rule you’ll live up to.
